Martin Stautner is the Owner and Director of Solid Stone Constructions. With a lifelong passion for both design and construction, Martin has dedicated his career to creating exceptional stonework that combines craftsmanship, functionality, and natural beauty.

Martin’s appreciation for stone extends far beyond construction. Fascinated by geology and the natural processes that shape landscapes, he views stone as one of nature’s most remarkable materials.

Martin is honoured to have the clients and projects we’ve had in and around the northern rivers as well as further afield.  Working to create the feel and vision they have for their dream homes.

His extensive experience in gardening has further enhanced his stonework expertise. Martin holds qualifications in horticulture and permaculture and possesses a thorough knowledge of Australian native plants, allowing him to create landscapes that are both visually stunning and environmentally harmonious.

In 2011, Martin spent a year in Switzerland working with Bächler + Güttinger AG, a highly respected landscape construction company renowned for its quality craftsmanship. Employed as a Foreman specialising in stonework, Martin gained invaluable international experience while refining his technical skills and broadening his understanding of landscape construction.

Martin believes that both his professional experience overseas and his travels throughout Europe have elevated not only his craftsmanship but also the standards he sets for every project.

Today, Martin continues to travel regularly throughout Europe, connecting with master stonemasons, attending workshops, and participating in industry conferences. His commitment to lifelong learning ensures that every project benefits from both traditional stone masonry techniques and contemporary landscape design practices.

Martin is supported by a team of skilled stonemasons whose experience spans Australia and overseas. Their expertise, attention to detail and passion for natural stone ensure every project is completed to the highest standard.

As a family business, with both sons trained as stonemasons, we take pride in a stoneworking heritage that traces back to great-grandparents in Sardinia and Switzerland.
